Cate was first introduced to SK-II skincare products by a friend seven years ago and noticed instantly a profound difference in her skin. Q: What inspires you in beauty? Cate: I think that beauty is something that is constantly evolving. It's not a static thing. You know a flower is just as beautiful when it's a bud as when it's an emerging or full flower - there's beauty to it. So I think I tend to like things that wouldn't traditionally be billed as beautiful.
Q: What role does skincare play in beauty? Cate: If you've had a heavy night and the kids have been up... at 4 again... you can look at the mirror and feel demoralised. But I have this support structure (with SK-II) and I can feel a lot more positive then I would otherwise.
Q: Whitening is a tradition within Asia. How would you explain it to a woman in New York? Cate: I always think of it as being a brightening thing. Like it evens out the tone of my skin. I'll use the Whitening Source because it gives me a more radiant look where as the Whitening Mask is more of a treatment.
Q: As an ambassador for SK-II, what would you like to tell women? Cate: It's about taking a deep breath and knowing there are so many things you can do that make you feel confident, and that maximise your exterior appearance but also work on your interior. I think this is the basis of the SK-II range. It is incredibly zen and potent and true. And it stands the test of time.
